Inspiration…Challenge….Responsibility This year's annual KICS Open Campus Day was another great success for all concerned. Held this year on Wednesday February 8th over 110 visitors enjoyed the sights and sounds of learning at KICS. As well as parents and friends of KICS, this number included students and teachers from the Khartoum Greek School who spent time mainly in the Senior Section. Both the teachers and students were very much pleased with what they saw in the science labs and other classes.
KICS opened its doors to all members of the community giving everyone an
opportunity to come and see what a typical school day is like at KICS
for students and teachers. Visitors had the chance to observe closely
how the IB’s Primary Years, IGCSE and IB Diploma programmes are
implemented at KICS. A programme of advertised lessons was sent
out to KICS existing families as well as to external members of the
broader Khartoum community. Guidelines in both English and Arabic were
also shared so as to ensure the least possible disturbance to our
students in their learning environment. On the World Map area, music and refreshments were made available.
Display boards promoting the school’s programmes, forthcoming events,
KICSMUN VI and the KICS Horse Riding School were available as well. The
Horse Riding School also displayed a video showing the different
activities that kids do in the stables. Positive feedback from
parents was received about what they saw in classrooms and a suggestion
to have another Open Campus Day during the academic year was given. Many thanks to all KICS staff members for making the KICS Open Campus Day 2012 a successful and enjoyable one!
