“Cycle Africa is going to be a very tough trip and I admire and support all those who are prepared to undertake such a test of stamina on behalf of those who have very tough lives. It’s a fine cause.” Michael Palin (Actor, writer and traveler) On Wednesday students in the Infants and Seniors had the pleasure of meeting the committed group of Cycle Africa. Their aim is to travel from London, England to Cape Town, South Africa cycling. This journey started on 7 August 2011 and they are hoping to arrive in Cape Town after twelve months. Craig, Loretta, Scott and Gareth have completed 7,000km within 5 months so far, meeting new people and connecting different nations for an honorable purpose. Sudan is the 15th country amongst the 30 countries on their list since they already travelled through Europe and the Middle East.
Cycle Africa was originally the idea of Craig, with the purpose of helping street children. They aim to raise £100,000 by the end of their journey through sponsorship and donations. This money helps street children to live better lives and have a brighter future. They hope to raise awareness of those unfortunate children through their website, by working with street charities and visiting schools. Cycle Africa inspires others to aid those children as well. Please take a moment to visit their website www.cycleafrica.org and share it with others or even donate some money. We wish the Team every success with the next stage of their journey. We will be following their journey closely.
