Visiting Author at KICS Sarah Mussi February 14th – 21st
Sarah Mussi, author of 2 teenage novels, spent a week at KICS engaged in Library Activities, English Classes and Writers Workshops. A friend of Kirsten Durward Sarah has travelled widely across Africa and lived in Ghana for several years. She last visited Khartoum in the 1970s so she was excited at the prospect of revisiting Sudan’s capital. Her first appearance was at Junior Assembly where she challenged students to write an amusing 6 word story!

Sarah is also a trained teacher and was able to take classes in the Infant, Junior and Senior sections. In addition she held 2 Writers Workshops after school hours for parents and staff.
KICS Libraries are celebrating African Literature during Book Week from March 7th – 11th Having an author whose novels are linked with Africa was a real bonus. Sarah’s 2 novels are: The Return of the Warrior King which features the Benin Bronzes and The Door of No Return which is based on the Slave Trade from Ghana.
Sarah thoroughly enjoyed her time at KICS. Equally we valued her visit and contributions to our development of writing skills. She was able to attend the KICSPA International Street Fayre and visit the pyramids at Meroe before she flew back to the snow in London!
