Every year, KICS holds a Work Experience week for the Year 10 students. The experience is part of our broader Career and College Counselling programme and is the first step for our senior students on their path towards deciding what career path they will take after they finish High School.
This year with the generous support and commitment of local organizations and businesses, our students were given work opportunities in marketing, architecture, early childhood learning, interior design, veterinary practice, law, engineering, science, hotel management, business administration and graphic design.

Preparation for their working week began last semester when Year 10s each took a personality test to help them narrow down their interests and possible career paths. With that information, they were then placed in the jobs, based on choices they made.

Each student was required to sign a contract as well as to write a daily reflection of his or her working day. Indeed all were responsible to be at work on time and behave in a professional manner at all times.
Work experience is a chance for students not only to learn outside the classroom but also gives them the opportunity to gain real working knowledge in a specific career of their choice. Students finish the week with practical skills and a very clear idea of the scope of learning and knowledge needed in order to fulfill the needs of a certain profession.
