This week a group of like minded students and teachers plied the streets around school collecting rubbish. Although in total we spent an hour cleaning up, we seemed to make a small but hopefully significant change. Our efforts were three fold, firstly we helped to make the place look a little more aesthetically beautiful, secondly many issues and discussions surrounding rubbish were raised; where does it come from, where does it go both by the students and also by the locals. The scary part about this was that I don’t know! We also raised a few eyebrows of people out and about in the street and hopefully prompt them to think twice before they drop litter in the street again.

If anyone does know about any recycling plants or projects in Sudan, we would love to know.
