This year, for the first time (March 25th-April 1st), we took thirteen of our KICS MUN students to Russia for the 21st Saint. Petersburg International MUN conference. SPIMUN is one of the United Nations Models affiliated with The Hague International Model United Nations and uses the same rules of procedure. This year the conference held 300 students from schools across the world, from Africa, to the Middle East, to Asia, to North America. For many of our students, this was their first international and sometimes it is easy to be intimidated for one’s first international conference however our students were able to fit right in and dove into lobbying and merging with the confidence that only KICSMUN could have given them.

Special congratulations went to three of our delegates who were recognised in their respective councils for Honorary Mention (Milkee Year 10 and Yomna Year 10) and Best Delegate (Tobi Year 12). In addition to an enjoyable conference, the students had the opportunity to see Saint. Petersburg in all its grandeur. We visited the famous Hermitage State Museum as well as some of the city’s most famous cathedrals and the students were blown away by the sheer size of the buildings, as well as the history behind them. After our week in Saint. Petersburg we took the speed train to Moscow, where we stayed for two nights. Here the students visited the Kremlin, the Red Square, and St. Basil’s Cathedral.

The students left the trip with some memorable experiences and new friends. Going to Russia is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we’re so glad our students could enjoy it. They all did a fantastic job and we’re very proud of them.
